The older we get the harder it seems to change, even when we know it is for our own good. When we are unwilling or unable to change people may say we are to set in our ways or that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

I did a little research on teaching old dogs new tricks and found out that adult dogs are often even easier to train than pups, simply because they have the ability to focus for a longer period of time. For this old dog it helped my focus that I was stuck in a 6X10 cell. The new trick God would teach me was how to live a life according to His Word. I am doing my best to trust and obey.

There are people who may be surprised on how I have changed. The Apostle Paul wouldn’t be. Paul said when I accepted Jesus as lord of my life that, “It is no longer I who live it is Christ who lives in me.”So the next time someone tries to tell me that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks I will explain to them that it all depends on who your master is.
