What Are the Chances?

Five years ago I met Chaplain Mike with Berean Prison Ministries when I was incarcerated in the county jail. This past Saturday I had the opportunity to join him at an event speaking about the importance of prison ministries. What are the chances of me preaching with the Chaplain I met during my incarceration?

Chaplain Mike also invited me to the Berean Prison Ministry banquet that would be held later that evening. The guest speaker was Manny Mill author of Radical Redemption and Radical Prayer. I was grateful for the invitation and looked forward to listening to Manny’s message.

I was also looking forward to the testimony that would be given by an ex-offender telling how God had transformed their life. I was surprised to discover the one giving his testimony was the same person I had led Bible study with while in the county jail.

I was happy to learn that the young man had become a husband, father and leader of a gospel group. I mean really, what are the chances of the two of us meeting under those circumstances.

I told my friend Jim about the experience and asked him what he thought the chances were of the two of us being brought together in that way. Jim smiled and quickly replied, “100 percent when God is involved.”

It was a great evening. I met some wonderful people and had a chance to spend a little time with Manny Mill after the banquet. A couple of days later I received an email from Manny inviting me to speak at one of his events. I accepted the offer and thought to myself, wow, what are the chances of that happening? As my friend Jim would say, “100 percent when God is involved.”
