This is My Story
The refrain for the hymn Blessed Assurance begins with ‘This is my Story.’ It has been almost a year since I finished my story, ‘Therefore I Have Hope.’ It is not really my story, because it has very little to do about me and everything to do about God’s grace. Over the past year I have had the opportunity to speak at several churches, prison ministry workshops, and on a radio program. I often think in the words of King David, “Who am I, Sovereign Lord and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?”
I would like to share with you a Prayer I found several months ago that hit home with me and maybe will do the same for you:
“Lord, thank you for your saving work in my life. Thank you for healing me, ridding me of the demons I wrestle with, and giving me new life. I have a story to tell the world about who you are and all you’ve done. Confirm your story in me, giving me a zeal for telling everyone I know. Amen.”
I am not sure what the next year will bring or what doors may open, but I know God will be leading and I know I will follow. I also know my part in the story. It is found in the refrain from Blessed Assurance:
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
