The Writing on the Wall

A friend introduced me to J.T. a couple of years ago. I would learn very quickly that J.T. battled many demons so I shared my faith and continued to mentor him whenever our paths crossed.

This past Monday J.T. dropped by the office where I was working and after listening to his struggles I encouraged him to check into the Peoria Rescue Mission. J.T. explained how he had been there before and then made up excuses why he couldn’t go back.

After he left, I did what I do every Monday morning which is write a Scripture verse for the week on the dry erase board as you enter the office.

The Spirit prompted me write, “Come to me who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest”. As I finished writing J.T. came back looked at the board and asked me if I had ever been to the Peoria Rescue Mission to which I responded, “no.”

J.T. told me that was the verse written on the wall as you enter the rescue mission. I told him, “Maybe, God is trying to tell you something.”

As J.T. walked away I prayed that the Lord would give him eyes to see because I know what it’s like to be so blinded by your sin that you can’t see the writing on the wall.
