The Three P’s
When I have the opportunity to speak before a group I always pray for peace, pace and presence.
I pray for peace to settle my nerves. Peace allows to enjoy the moment instead of treating it like going to the dentist to get a tooth pulled.
I pray for an even pace. I want to speak slowly and not rush through the message. I pray that my words may be gracious, appealing and seasoned with salt.
I pray for presence. That the Holy Spirit is with me, speaking through me.
I try to apply the three P’s not only in speaking engagements but to my life. My relationship with God has given me peace even during the most difficult times. It truly is a peace that goes beyond all understanding.
I try to pace myself instead of rushing through life. Life is a marathon not a race. I try to take the time to enjoy it.
Finally, God’s presence in my life has pulled my life together. In the words of Max Lucado I may have failed but I am not a failure. God in my life has given me perfect peace and perfect pace because of His perfect presence in my life.
