Take Your Medicine
When I was younger and became sick my mom would call Dr. Devrees and he would order a prescription for me. The stuff tasted terrible but as my mom promised it did make me feel better.
By the time I had children; cherry flavor was added to make the medicine taste better. It did not taste great, because after all it was still medicine.
I have also had to take medicine for my sin. The first dose of medicine was a prison sentence. It was definitely a bitter pill to swallow, but God’s Word promised me things would get better. He has been true to His Word.
The second dose came when I was released. I searched countless businesses for a job. I was told I was overqualified, when actually with a prison record I was not qualified for anything. People may think you are going to start where you left off but it is simply not the case.
I finally found a job cleaning a car dealership at night. This was not an ordinary car dealership it was a Christian car dealership. The employees knew my past but were still happy to have me working for them. It was medicine I did not want to take but the Lord made it more palatable my surrounding me with brothers in Christ.
Once the dealership is closed it’s just me and God. The only sound is the Hymns playing over the sound system. I enjoy my quiet time with God. Quiet time with God is what got me through my time in prison.
I am thankful for a God and mother who always knew what was best for me. Because of them, now I know when I am sick spiritually or physically I need to take my medicine and soon I will be feeling better.
