Good News?

Hopefully the “Good News” has not become old news to you. Sometimes I think we forget the magnitude of the events that occurred over 2,000 years ago. The Apostle Paul tells us, “Jesus emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2: 7-8) The creator traded His Heavenly throne for a manger and brought Heaven to earth to give us eternal life. That’s is not just Good News but the Best News Ever.

In my study Bible I was reading about views of our society’s journalism by author and Pastor Eugene Peterson. He stated that we have a style of print and media journalism that reports disaster endlessly and scrupulously: crime and war, famine and flood, political malfeasance and societal scandal. The one virtually foolproof way for getting noticed in our culture is to do something bad-the worse the act, the higher the profile.
