I Surrender All
Last Sunday at the church I spoke we closed with the Hymn, “I Surrender All.”
The refrain to the Hymn is:
I surrender all
I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all
I hear that hymn every night. As many of you know, difficulties in finding a job led me (actually God led me) to cleaning a Christian car dealership at night.
I was so grateful to have a job, any job; I had been looking for work for three months after my release but was unable to find any employment. It is not exactly the career path I planned but it was the path God planned and that is good enough for me.
The dealership closes at 6:00 and usually empty by 6:30. It was around 7:00 and “I surrender all” came over the sound system.
I was filled with joy and began dancing with my mop and singing at the top of my voice. By the time I got to the refrain one of the salesman came around the corner smiled, patted me on the back and said, “Sing it Brother John”.
I surrendered all back in 2011. Giving up never felt so good. There may be something you are holding onto I urge you to let go. I urge you to quit fighting God, grab your mop, your dancing shoes and sing with me, “I surrender all.”
