Fear is a big part of Halloween but an even bigger part of the Bible. Fear of God is mentioned over 300 times in the Bible.

Jesus said to the people, “I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of people. They can kill the body, but after that they can do nothing more to hurt you.I will show you the one to fear. You should fear God, who has the power to kill you and also to throw you into hell. Yes, he is the one you should fear.” (Luke 12:4-6)

For years I struggled with the concept of being afraid of a loving God until I read in Exodus that Moses told the people that the fear of God would keep them from sinning.

Sin leads to destruction and separates us from God. The only good that can come out of sin is repentance.

Pastor Tony Evans said, “To fear God is to take him seriously.” God is not a Trick or a Treat, now more than ever we need to take God seriously.
