Even If
Christian recording artists Mercy Me recently released a song titled “Even If.” The song is based on the Bible story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. (Daniel 3).
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were given the choice to bow down and worship a false idol or be thrown into a fiery furnace. Here was their reply, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But EVEN IF he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
The three men of God were thrown into the furnace only to be saved by an Angel.
My “Even If” moment came after my first week in prison in Oklahoma City. I was denied a transfer close to home and realized there was a chance that I may never see my family again.
I prayed, “God give me a chance to see my family just one more time, but Even If you don’t you are still my God and I will follow you the rest of my life.”
God answered my prayer but even if He didn’t I know that God is still God, God is always in control, God loves me and is walking with me every step of the way.
