What’s In a Name?

The other day, I saw the most popular baby names of 2015 were Liam and Emma. The names sure have changed since I was born. Actually, they have changed since my sons, Jon and Nick, were born. I had an Uncle John but if I were to guess where my name came from, I would say the Bible. I know how much my mom loves the Bible and always figured she named me after John the Baptist or John the Disciple. Further proof would be my mother naming my brothers David and James. I know we had an Uncle Jim, but I do not believe anyone in the family was …..

This past Sunday I had the opportunity to fill in for a pastor friend of mine who was feeling under the weather. I was happy to help. This Pastor and his wife have done so much for me and my family. Outside of giving the message, I was unsure how much of the service I would be involved in until I arrived at the church. Upon my arrival I discovered I would be giving the majority of the service. It is hard to stay focused.” Prayer itself is, after all, an implicit recognition of the Sovereignty of God. Three things stand in our way when we try to pray, the world, the flesh and the devil. While in prison I would write a …..

I read this several years ago in a Military Devotional and thought today would be a great day to share it with you, as we take a moment and think of those who gave their lives for our freedom. Happy Memorial Day. Psalm 91 Almost 100 years ago, during World War I, the 91st Infantry Brigade of the U. S. Expeditionary Army was preparing to enter combat in Europe. Because their commander was a devout Christian, he assembled his men and gave each of them a little card on which was printed the 91st Psalm, the same number Psalm as their brigade. They agreed to recite that Psalm daily. After …..

The Evidence is Clear

In court, attorneys present evidence (or whatever they would like the court to believe is evidence) to convict or free someone. I would like to provide irrefutable evidence that Christ is the Messiah. That Christ is who He claimed to be. That He died on the cross for our sins and on the third day He rose. Evidence that Christ lives. Mathematicians have calculated the odds of Jesus fulfilling only 8 of the Messianic prophecies as 1 out of 1017 (a 1 followed by 17 zeros). This is equivalent to covering the entire state of Texas with silver dollars 2 feet deep, marking one of them, mixing them all up …..
