In the book of Exodus, we are told “God spoke to Moses face to face as one speaks to a friend.” Because of their relationship Moses asked God,” Show me your glory?” Moses was telling God he wanted to get to know Him better. Reading this passage the song, “Getting to know you, getting to know all about you” began to play in my head. Through prayer and reading the Bible we see God’s glory. What better time than Christmas to build a relationship with Christ. Prayer gives us the opportunity to speak to Jesus as a friend until the time comes when we see him face to face. I …..

This past presidential election was filled with passion. There is nothing wrong with passion unless it is filled with anger, rage, and malice. Anger, rage, and malice are sins of the flesh which grieve the Holy Spirit. Last week I read that at the turn of the twentieth century, The London Times posed the question to its readers What’s wrong with the world? The English writer, poet, and philosopher G. K. Chesterton’s four-word response, was: “Dear Sirs, I am.” The Apostle Paul had the same answer. Paul said Jesus came to save (“sinners”): “of whom I am the worst”. Paul knew Sin was what was wrong with the world and the grace of our Lord was the only hope of making it right. I too am a sinner saved by grace, so I am no longer who I used to be. Now I am who I am because the Great “I Am” (Exodus …..

Something About That Name

My job gives me the opportunity to meet semi-drivers from all over the country. Last week a driver came in wearing a BLANK Trump mask. It was not the political choice that bothered me but the cuss word that preceded it. The battle between my flesh and spirit began and escalated when the young man accused me of being disrespectful. I prayed and the verse, “Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse” (Romans 12:14) came to my mind. I offered him a drink, shared my testimony, and told him Jesus loved him. The walls came down and he took off his mask, thanked me, and shook my …..
