Ash Wednesday was celebrated this week. Ash Wednesday is a day of repentance when Christians confess their sins and profess their devotion to God. The ashes symbolize death and repentance.

While I was thinking about ashes the phrase “ashes to ashes, dust to dust’ came to mind. The phrase means everything that has life will one day come to an end and that humans are made of the dust and will return to dust.

Non-believers may return to the dust but when Christians die they go from dust to glory.
