Under the Influence
The Apostle Paul warns us, “Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.”
Last month I had the opportunity to share a message at a church in Blue Ridge Illinois. On the way to the church, I passed the “Trust Me Tavern.”
New Year’s Eve the “Trust Me Tavern” was probably full of people trusting in Spirits and it was not the Holy one.
Satan was in the “Trust Me Tavern” on New Year’s Eve. Satan has been saying “Trust me” since the Garden of Eden. Satan is the Father of lies and a thief and certainly is not someone to trust.
If not careful, Alcohol can become one of the devils greatest “Trust Me” weapons. Satan says, “Trust me, have another drink and your troubles will go away.” “Trust me you are okay to drive”. Trust me, trust me, trust me.
Years ago, I may have been sitting on a bar stool listening to those “Trust me” lies at the Trust Me Tavern but not anymore. Now I, “Trust in is the Lord, with all my heart, and lean not on my own understanding. In all ways I acknowledge him, and he shall direct my paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
The only Spirit I am under the influence of now is the Holy Spirit.
