Pastor John
The last few years the Lord has given me the opportunity to substitute preach at several churches. Occasionally, some of the members of the congregation have referred to me as Pastor John.
I am always quick to remind them that I am not a Pastor, because God has not called me to do so.
Thursday evening after our Pause service one of the new attendees said, “Thanks Pastor.” I corrected him and told him I am not a Pastor I am “one of the least of these” (Mathew 25:40).
Friday morning, I woke up with 1 Peter 2:9 on my mind, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
Maybe God was trying to tell me something. A Pastor friend asked me to give her an update when we met. I explained about my new position with CLI, leading the Pause service on Thursday evenings and filling Pulpits on quite a few Sundays.
She told me it sounds like the life of a Pastor. I explained that I had not felt the calling. Her reply was, “Not yet.”
