When I was growing up I was given the nickname Jonah. It’s funny how part of my life paralleled the Bible character Jonah. Jonah disobeyed God and was swallowed up by a whale. I disobeyed God and was swallowed up by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

While in the whale Jonah prayed to God and promised he would go wherever God led him. While sitting in a 6’X10’ cell I made that same promise. Jonah was released from the whale, I was released from prison and we both would go where God would lead us.

When God opened the door for me to go back to prison to share our story I thought it was a bit fishy, after all Jonah did not have to go back into the belly of the whale.

But, I made a promise and next Sunday that is exactly what I am going to do as I have been invited me to speak at the local jail.
