The Gift that Keeps on Giving
By now the gifts you received from Christmas may have already started to lose some of their luster. How would you like to receive the gift that keeps on giving?
I remember when the phrase “the gift that keeps on giving” was used to sell monthly subscriptions for Sports Illustrated magazine.
“The gift that keeps on giving” is meant to invoke the feelings people get when they receive a present. Any present that gives that feeling over and over, such as receiving a magazine every month, would be better than a gift that only provides that feeling once.
What if someone gave you a gift that would invoke that feeling every day of the year for as long as you live? A gift that never gets old, never wears out, never loses its shine and there is no limit to how much you can enjoy it.
God gave us that gift. God gift wrapped His only son and sent Him to save us from sin. We just need to accept the gift.
If you have never experienced this gift think of how you felt as a child when you saw the presents under the tree Christmas morning. The gift in the manger is better than any gift under a tree. So go ahead and open this gift and begin to enjoy it. A relationship with Christ and the gift of grace is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
