God’s GPS
I don’t have a good sense of direction. Actually I don’t have any sense of direction. To illustrate my point I would like to share a story. One time I was going to the country to visit a farmer and forgot to bring my directions. I had been to his house several times before so I thought it would not be a problem.
It was a problem. I went past his house three times before I noticed his name on the license plate of the car sitting in his driveway. When I pulled up the farmer was laughing and told me if I would’ve went by his house one more time he was going to throw a rock at my car. Needless to say I was excited when GPS became available.
The Bible is God’s map on how we should live our lives. I have been reading the Old Testament and keep running into the same verse, “do not turn aside from any of the words which I (God) command you today, to the right or to the left.” Whenever you turn to the right or left you eventually run into a dead end.
Some of us get off course. Maybe you feel you have strayed too far, or like me, so lost you wondered if you would find your way back. The Bible assures us, “Even if you are exiled to the ends of the world, from there the lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you back.”
God wants us to live a good life while here on earth, and a better one in Heaven. God tells us why it is so important to not turn to the right or the left, “So that you may have success wherever you go.”
Jesus left the Holy Spirit as a guide for believers. The Spirit acts as an internal GPS and helps keep us on the straight and narrow. The Spirit has given me a sense of direction. Now I know the Way. I know the Truth. I know the Life. Thank you God for your Heavenly GPS.
